A validação do modelo: a necessidade de validar os pressupostos sobre os erros aleatórios a partir dos resíduos. Alguns gráficos de diagnóstico.

Comparing models and submodels through the partial F-test. Discussion of the concept of a submodel and alternative formulations of the test hypotheses. The partial F-test statistic (its alternative expressions and demonstration). The right-tailed nature of the critical region.
The problem of submodel selection. Backward elimination algorithm based on Student's t-tests for beta_j=0. The definition and interpretation of the Akaike Information Criterion (AIC), and the backward elimination algorithm based on the AIC using the step() function in R.
