1. Presentation by the four student groups of their progress on the restoration projects of the study areas (notably on Planning and Design phases), considering:

   i.   Sources of information (geographic information and other information such as soil analyses) provided by managers of Herdade dos Pelados and Perimetro Florestal Serra de Sintra

   ii.   Additional geographic information sources provided by professors (e.g. WFD implementation, Habitats Directive implementation) for the definition of Reference Model

2.    Support on potential approaches for the definition and development of the different steps required according to the Group work Guidelines, for each case study. Clarification of concepts in the Project planning and design (e.g. differences among Vision/goals/specific objectives), and discussion about scope/spatial scale of restoration projects)

Field trip to Herdade dos Pelados on 13/10: introduction to the implementation and monitoring of forest/agroforest restoration in a private property from Amorim company, including guided tour by the property's forest manager through different land use areas (e.g. montado, stone pine, riparian areas, industrial pig farming); presentation of major challenges and potential opportunities for the management of the property,  interaction and discussion between students and the forest manager and teachers, on different aspects involved in property management: environmental challenges, techniques applied, forms of financing, and economic activities.

The visit was accompanied by the course lecturers Maria Conceição Caldeira, Vanda Acácio, and Patricia María Rodríguez González
