Visit to Herdade de Pelados, Coruche

We visited Herdade de Pelados, one of the study areas where students will develop their group project. During the visit, we explored the Lavre stream, cork oak stands planted in rows and mixed with umbrella pines, and cork oak areas with very low tree density where pig slurry is incorporated into the soil (Torre de Dom Diogo). We discussed with the students the factors contributing to degradation, land use and management practices, restoration needs, and possible interventions to restore the study area.
