MEDfOR 48-ECTS Graduate-level sub-programme

Credits: 6 ECTS

Prerequisites: Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science (12 ECTS) or override permit by the lecturer

    1. Objectives:

This GIS course introduces the analytical use of geospatial information. Students learn practical skills of using GIS and spatial analysis and will develop an understanding of spatial analysis methods. The course will provide hands-on experiences of spatial analysis using GIS software (QGIS).

GIS software
Geographic data modeling
GIS data collection
Creating and maintaining geographic databases
Visualization and user interaction
Geographic query and analysis
Creating and analyzing 3-D surfaces
Raster analysis
Satellite imagery
Advanced spatial analysis

    1. Assessment:

Course requirements include a class project (40%) and a final exam (60%).
