ONGOING PROJECTS

Nutrition Research Facility: Enhancing Evidence-Informed Decision Making in Nutrition (NRF)

Reference: Knowledge and Research for Nutrition - DCI-FOOD/2019/408-364 (1 April 2020 – 31 March 2024)

Summary: NRF aims at providing evidence-based research and Monitoring & Evaluation expertise to the Commission, to EU delegations, and to 42 low-and-middle-income EU partner countries. The overall objective of this project is to enhance evidence-informed decision-making in the field of nutrition and nutrition-sensitive policies and projects. By harnessing its expertise and relevant networks, the project will (1) identify demand for evidence, (2) mobilise expertise and address this demand, and (3) facilitate the uptake of evidence by decision makers from the EU and EU Members States (in relation to their development policies) as well as EU Partner Countries prioritising nutrition. NRF deals with questions on nutrition-sensitive interventions arising from various sectors of activity. Due consideration is given to diets as a key driver of nutritional status, but also to the social determinants of nutrition. Specific consideration is also given to identifying proxy variables to assess the impacts of interventions on the wider food system to track broader impacts of programmes than the nutritional status.
